Analysis of distribution of human settlement culture in determining urban complex in metropolises using entropy model (Case study of Hamedan metropolis)

Growing urban population of country, lack of attention to urban network, the distribution of population centers in one hand, rapid growth of large cities and metropolises on the other hand have led to lack of cohesion in the spatial structure of the country. Increasing migration from villages to urban areas, growing urbanization and developments during recent decades in metropolises have led to disruption and special imbalance in settlement system at human and social dimensions.  As Iranian cities face with the problem of immigration and its cultural dimensions and conversion of many other peripheral villages to city without the existence of the necessary capacity at different dimensions, settlement forms and type of economic culture of urban society have been changed, that is far from the public definitions and concepts that are discussed in cities. Finally, it has complicated the form of spatial relations in an urban complex and ultimately it has led to polarization of major cities and Prime urban phenomenon that in the literature of this research, cities will be without discipline in the form of culture in the culture form of settlement establishment from the regional and experimental planning perspective. In addition, new cities with rural cores will be without systemic role in the urban complex and imbalance and weightlessness will be a dominant feature in the spatial system culture of cities. Additionally, as it was mentioned, we will experience the emergence of prime urban phenomenon and its side issues form, including centralization. This is a applied study in which researcher investigates and classifies the documentary information from  dispersion and distribution form of urban settlements as human settlements established in an effective space in creation of urban complex. In this study, population is examined as one of the most important factors creating an imbalance pattern in the urban network and settlement system in a case study of Hamadan city in Iran. In this paper, researcher used library and documentary method. In this study, population of province cities has been selected as dependent variable, and special distribution of settlement system has been considered as independent variable so that human system of urban settlement in the province to be examined. Entropy method was used as method of analysis to measure the urban population distribution and number of cities distribution at different classes. This study was conducted from 1956 to 2006. The results of this study showed a big gap between the settlement system in the studied area and desirable cultural level in the spatial distribution in the settlement dimensions. This suggests an imbalance and disruption in the special organization and settlement system of the province cities.
