The vulnerability of political system in natural disasters

Iran, due to being located on earthquake belt, is the world's sixth of the earthquake. As well as many major cities, including Tehran as major political, economic, cultural center is located on active faults. According to research, Tehran every 158 year once has experienced earthquake with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale that the last earthquake about 176 years ago. According to this cycle, now is the time of this city fault's activity and the occurrence of earthquake is very likely. Earthquake has extensive physical, financial and development effects and consequences. But Tehran earthquake in addition to the above damage, due to the concentration of political institutions and high population density is politically also more vulnerable. This paper using documentary and historical method investigate these damages. The results indicate that by earthquake occurrence in Tehran, in addition, the vulnerability of the elites and political institutions (which are often located near earthquake faults) as a result of the destruction of institutions and the collapse of the division of labor and anomie caused by this destruction, a background will be create for Nationalism   of domestic and foreign ethnicities and different social groups, that will be result in the crisis of legitimacy and authority.
